This paper examines the tension between digital video content created by or featuring women (Video Wanita) and real-life romantic relationships. While traditional romantic storylines (films, series) have long shaped expectations of love, the rise of short-form, personalized video content has introduced a more fragmented, performative, and often transactional model of romance. We argue that Video Wanita can both empower women’s expression and create unrealistic benchmarks for partnership, leading to increased dissatisfaction and conflict in real-world relationships.
