What it is
The SWTOR Security Key app (mobile authenticator) adds two-factor authentication (2FA) to your BioWare/EA account used for Star Wars: The Old Republic. It gives a time-based one-time code (TOTP) you enter along with your password to reduce account theft.
Final Interesting Note: The original 2012 SWTOR Security Key physical fob (a battery-powered dongle) worked on the exact same TOTP algorithm. If you still have one with a working battery, it will produce valid codes for your account today—10 years later.
1. The "Time Sync" Issue
If your phone’s internal clock is even a few minutes off from the BioWare servers, the generated code will be rejected.
3. The "Removal Key" is your lifeline
During setup, the website gives you a 20-digit "Removal Key." Do not ignore this. Store it in a secure location (like a physical notebook). If you get locked out, this key instantly disables the security key without needing security questions.
