Implementation notes / pseudocode
- Example client-side logic: when user selects "Hide tile", remove association from local history index and add site to local exclusion list with timestamp; on history reindex, ignore excluded hosts unless user un-hides.
- Suggest storage: encrypted local list; do not upload to sync unless user opts in.
For Google Chrome (Desktop)
- Open a new tab.
- Look at the bottom right corner; you’ll see a pencil icon or an “Add shortcut” link (depending on your Chrome version). Click it.
- A pop-up titled “Shortcuts” will appear. Uncheck the box that says “Show most visited sites” or “Show shortcuts” (the wording varies).
- Click Done. Your new tab page will now be blank or only show manually added shortcuts.
- Chrome/Edge:
Settings>Privacy & Security>Clear browsing data> SelectAll time> CheckBrowsing history>Clear data. - Firefox:
Menu>History>Clear Recent History>Everything. - Safari:
History>Clear History>All history.
