The Power of Survivor Stories: How Awareness Campaigns Are Changing the Conversation

  1. Informed Consent: The survivor must understand exactly where, how, and in what context the story will be used.
  2. Control: The survivor should have veto power over the final edit.
  3. Compensation: While controversial, many argue that if a campaign profits from a story, the survivor should be paid for their labor (interview time, travel, emotional labor).
  4. Trigger Warnings: Responsible campaigns provide content warnings, allowing the audience to opt-in or out of the narrative.

Fostering Connection: Stories act as bridges, breaking down barriers of ignorance and prejudice by creating a personal investment in the issue.

Host workshops or distribute materials to address misconceptions. Community Outreach:

Stories provide a face, a name, and a heartbeat to the numbers. 3. Providing a Roadmap
