1. The Absolute Beginner
If you have never held a stylus to a tablet, paying $900 is insane. Core Mini removes the anxiety of UI overload. You download it, you pick a sphere, and you start pushing clay. It is the "GarageBand" of 3D sculpting. ZBrushCoreMini is a streamlined, free version of Pixologic's
- Get a Tablet. You can use a mouse, but it is like painting with a brick. A cheap One by Wacom or Huion tablet changes everything.
- Use the "H" key. Hold
Hto activate the Smooth brush. Release to go back to sculpting. This is your new best friend. - Flip the Y Axis. Go into Preferences and invert the Y axis for the camera rotation. The default "ball" rotation drives many people crazy.
- Don't make a human first. Start with an apple, then a potato, then a cartoon fish. Master the Core Brush before worrying about facial proportions.
- Save locally. Core Mini saves to your hard drive, not the cloud. Make backups!
