Mtk Gsm Laboratory V1.0 -
Write-Up: MTK GSM LABORATORY V1.0
1. Overview
MTK GSM LABORATORY V1.0 is a software suite designed for low-level interaction, diagnostics, and experimentation with GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) modules based on MediaTek (MTK) chipsets. It targets engineers, reverse engineers, and RF hackers working with feature phones, IoT modules, or older smartphones.
High-Speed Operations: Support for baud rates up to 921600bps, facilitating faster data transfers during flashing processes. Tool Components MTK GSM LABORATORY V1.0

5. Formatting and Partition Management
Unlike simple format tools, MTK GSM Laboratory V1.0 allows selective formatting of partitions like: Connect audio analyzer to DUT earphone/mic lines Set
5.3 Audio Loopback Test
- Connect audio analyzer to DUT earphone/mic lines
- Set signaling tester to Audio Loopback mode (DUT sends uplink audio → tester loops back on downlink)
- Measure Send/Receive Sensitivity, SLR/RLR, Echo Cancellation
Common workflows and procedures
1) Accessing device console and boot logs
- Locate UART/debug pads on the device PCB (TX, RX, GND, and sometimes VCC).
- Connect USB-to-Serial adapter (match voltage levels: 1.8V/3.3V as required).
- Power device via DC supply with current limit set; open serial terminal at common baud rates (115200, 921600).
- Capture boot log—look for U-Boot, LK (Little Kernel), and kernel messages, plus modem firmware load messages.
- Use boot logs to identify scatter file structure, storage type (eMMC, UFS), and firmware versions.
