The Motorola GM339 is a versatile mobile two-way radio part of the Professional Series (Waris), primarily used in the Asia-Pacific region. Programming this device requires specific Customer Programming Software (CPS) and a compatible interface cable. Essential Programming Software
Is it freeware?
Technically, no. Motorola still holds the copyright. However, since the hardware has been discontinued for over 20 years, Motorola generally does not enforce copyright on hobbyist usage of RSS. For commercial/public safety use, you should source an original Motorola programming disk (floppy) via eBay.
7) Writing to the radio
- Confirm connection and selected COM port.
- Use “Write” in CPS and monitor progress; do not disconnect power during write.
- After writing, perform a verification/readback to confirm settings match saved file.
While Motorola has moved toward the MOTOTRBO digital line, the GM339 is prized for its Large Alpha-Numeric Display and its Full Keypad Mic compatibility. It excels in complex analog environments where specific signaling (like caller ID or remote stun/kill) is required.
9) Cloning between radios
- Use CPS “Clone” or a cloning cable to copy entire configuration from one radio to another.
- Verify hardware/firmware compatibility before cloning.
