Troubleshooting Guide: SolidWorks 2020 Error -8 544 0- (Invalid License Key)
Overview
When attempting to start SolidWorks 2020, you may encounter a dialog box stating: "Invalid (inconsistent) license key (-8 544 0-)."
Are you using a standalone license or a network version from a company or school?
- Run SolidNetWork License Manager on server; confirm license file is valid, for SOLIDWORKS 2020, and host ID (MAC or hostid) matches server hardware.
- If host ID changed (hardware/network card replaced, VM moved), request a new license file from SOLIDWORKS/reseller.
