In the world of Ikariam, the sea is vast, but the resources are finite. While trading and pillaging other players are the game's lifeblood, the most consistent, risk-free source of raw materials comes from a often-misunderstood mechanic: The Barbarian Village.
We all know the Barbarian Villages (the little red camps) are great for free resources and easy General XP. But most players just smash the "Fight" button and take whatever they get. ikariam barbarian village better

- Level 1: Low risk, but you get 200 Sulfur. Not worth the travel time.
- Level 2: Medium risk, 3,000 Sulfur. Decent.
- Level 3: High risk (for idiots), but yields 12,000 - 15,000 Sulfur plus 8k wood and 4k wine.
Around Level 10, the Barbarian Village gains a Wall. In Ikariam, walls are the great equalizer. If you don't send enough Rams or Catapults, your frontline troops (Hoplites and Steam Giants) will die in droves against the stone fortifications. If your losses cost more in Sulfur and Wood than the loot you bring home, the village is no longer "better"—it's a resource sink. 2.
