Hagercad Work May 2026
What is HagerCAD?
HagerCAD is a free planning and configuration software developed by Hager Group, a leading manufacturer of electrical installations. It is designed for electricians, electrical engineers, and planners to design and document electrical distribution boards (consumer units) and switchgear systems.
Supporting Prefabrication and Digital Twin Creation
Modern construction increasingly relies on off-site prefabrication of electrical assemblies. HagerCAD objects provide not only visual geometry but also parametric data required for automated panel scheduling and CNC punching. A contractor can extract exact cut-out dimensions for mounting plates, terminal locations, and cable entry zones directly from the HagerCAD model. Furthermore, once the building is completed, the as-built HagerCAD objects become the foundation of a digital twin. Facility managers can query each component for its serial number, maintenance schedule, and replacement part compatibility. This life-cycle integration transforms HagerCAD from a design tool into an asset management platform. hagercad
- Cloud Collaboration: Multiple engineers designing the same panel simultaneously.
- Augmented Reality (AR): Using a phone camera to overlay a HagerCAD design onto a physical empty enclosure to verify fit before wiring.
- Direct CNC Integration: Sending cutting files directly to Rittal, Sick, or Perforex machining centers without intermediate conversion.
- AI-Assisted Layout: Where the engineer inputs only the protection requirements, and the AI generates the optimal physical layout to minimize heat and maximize serviceability.
The Tip: Regularly check for software updates to ensure your project complies with the latest regional standards. The software will flag errors if your busbar selection or heat dissipation calculations don't meet safety thresholds. 4. Streamline Your Quotes and BOMs What is HagerCAD
: The software is free to test for 30 days. After that, you must request a free activation code through your account to continue using it. : Choose between (small residential), (increased power needs), or (sites up to 4000A). 2. Assisted Drafting: Instead of drawing every line by hand, Marcus used the assisted multi-line diagram tool. He dragged circuit breakers and RCDs from the Hager product catalog directly into the diagram table.
- Electrical installation design and planning
- CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software for creating detailed electrical designs
- Possibly includes features for calculating electrical loads, selecting components, and generating reports
Before you can print, ensure your circuit drawings and enclosure layouts are finished. HagerCAD uses the appliance designations (like Q2, LS1) and circuit locations directly from your diagram to create the labels. 2.
