V5204 Portable | Canon Service Tool

Canon Service Tool V5204 is a specialized utility used to perform advanced maintenance on Canon printers, most notably for resetting the waste ink absorber counter

Modern inkjet printers use a sponge-like pad to collect excess ink during cleaning cycles. To prevent ink from leaking, manufacturers program a software limit that locks the printer once the absorber is theoretically full. The v5204 tool allows users to manually reset this internal counter—often referred to as error code 5B00 or 1700—extending the life of a device that would otherwise be discarded as electronic waste. 1. With the printer OFF, hold down the Stop/Reset button (sometimes labeled "Resume" or a red triangle in a circle).
  2. While holding Stop/Reset, press and hold the Power button.
  3. Keep holding the Power button, but release the Stop/Reset button.
  4. While still holding Power, press the Stop/Reset button twice.
  5. Release the Power button. The printer’s green power light will flash, then remain solid green. The screen (if LCD-equipped) will remain blank or show a "Service Mode" identifier.

Step 5: Clear the Printer’s Error Flag

  1. Click the "Main" button (often Button #9) to clear the primary error log.
  2. Turn off the printer manually (do not use software shut down). Wait 10 seconds.
  3. Turn the printer on normally. The 5B00 or P07 error should be gone. Run a nozzle check.

Hardware Maintenance: Resetting the ink counter electronically does not physically clean the ink pads. If the pads are actually soaked, continued use can lead to ink leaking inside the printer. Canon Service Tool V5204 is a specialized utility
