Canon G1000 Service Tool V4905 a utility used primarily to reset the waste ink counter (Ink Absorber Counter) and fix the 5B00 error code
Step-by-Step Guide: How to Use the Service Tool
Using the service tool requires a specific sequence of operations. If you try to run the software without putting the printer into "Service Mode," it will not work. Follow these steps carefully.
Step 1: Enter Service Mode
This is the most critical step. You must force the printer into a state where it accepts service commands.
Before any software can communicate with your G1000, you must manually put the printer into Service Mode: Power Off: Ensure the printer is plugged in but turned off.
- Ensure the printer is turned off but the power cord is plugged in.
- Press and hold the Resume/Cancel button (the button with the triangle inside a circle).
- While holding the Resume button, press and hold the Power button. The green LED should light up.
- Keep holding the Power button, but release the Resume button.
- While still holding the Power button, press the Resume button 5 times. (For G1000, usually 5 times is the magic number to enter Service Mode).
- Release the Power button
