Limitations and Future Improvements:
Performance — 3.5/5
- Go to Settings → System → About Device.
- Look for “MCU Version” or “Build Number”.
- If it starts with “F9212”, you are in the family. If not, stop here.
- Radio Reception (FM/AM): The built-in tuner is often weak. Solution: Install an inline signal booster or use a powered antenna adapter.
- Microphone Quality: The included wired mic is terrible for hands-free calling. Solution: Buy a Sony or Panasonic electret mic adapter. The unit uses a standard 3.5mm CTIA standard jack.
- Overheating: Under direct summer sun, the unit can throttle performance. Solution: The "Exclusive" metal chassis helps, but consider adding a USB fan behind the dash.
- Fake Features: Some sellers advertise "AirPlay" or "DVR built-in" – these are apps, not hardware. You must buy the camera separately.
Low Volume After Update
Issue: The DSP presets sound quiet.
Fix: Open the "HCT DSP" app. Go to "Volume Settings." Increase the "System Volume Gain" from 0 to +6 dB. Do not go above +9 dB to avoid distortion.
