1. Definition & Scope of Agricultural Marketing
Definition: Agricultural marketing is a process that involves the assembling, storage, processing, transportation, grading, and distribution of agricultural commodities from the farm to the final consumer.
C. Facilitating Functions
- Standardization & Grading: Sorting by quality (e.g., Grade A, B, C).
- Packaging: Protects product, provides branding.
- Market Information: Prices, arrivals, demand forecasts.
- Risk Bearing: Price fluctuation risk, spoilage risk.
9. Cooperative Marketing
Definition: Farmers pool their produce into a cooperative society which grades, brands, and markets collectively.
Ideal Chain:
Farmer → FPO/Cooperative → e-NAM → Retail/Export → Consumer
